Grow Your Own Cress!

If you are new to growing your own herbs or have a limited space then I would suggest to always start with cress. Cress or garden cress is a herb similar to watercress.

There are two words for cress in Farsi; shahi is the more common but tartizak is also used. Cress has a peppery flavour and it is used fresh because it doesn’t dry into a usable form. For this reason it is sometimes available live in small planters. It is easily grown if you would rather have it very fresh and not have to search for it at your local farmers market.
All you need is a small planter or plastic cup and damp cotton wool (there are loads of helpful YouTube videos on this so get the kids involved!) and some cress seeds and they grow all year round!
