Italian Hot Chocolate (Cioccolato Caldo)


• 80g of dark chocolate 70-74%, chopped into small pieces

• 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder

• 1 pinch of sea salt @steenbergsltd

• 1 tablespoon of cornflour 

• 200ml of milk, almond, or regular milk will work best

• 1 tsp of vanilla extract @steenbergsltd

☕️ Method:
In a small bowl, combine the dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornflour with ¼ cup of milk.

In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, bring the remaining milk to a simmer (watch for bubbles forming around the edges).

Dump the dry ingredients into the simmering milk along with the vanilla extract and stir with a wooden spoon or heat-proof spatula until the chocolate is melted and smooth, about 4 minutes

Whisk in the milk and cornflour mixture and continue stirring until the chocolate has thickened, about 1 minute.

Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. If any skin starts to appear on the surface, whisk the mixture. Enjoy with Biscotti!
