When I was little, I always used to see my dad nibble on something from his coat pocket. Dried fruit, unsalted nuts or dates, he always had something to hand.
Looking back now, I guess he did this to make sure he would have something to satisfy his hunger but I also suspect it was to share with the company he kept. He is a generous person and a bit of a flirt, too! ?? Here’s my version of the classic trail mix, free of smarties, salted pretzels and other refined carbs and sugar products. My mix is guilt free but addictive so best to be had on active days! ???Serves 6-8
1/2 cup of unsalted and unroasted almonds
1/2 cup of unsalted and unroasted walnut halves
1/2 cup of coconut chips
1/4 cup of unroasted and unsalted pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup of dried mango
1/4 cup of raisins
1/4 cup of cacao nibs ?1 cup of cinnamon popcorn (popped popcorn with 1 teaspoon of @Steenbergsltd organic cinnamon powder) ? Simply mix it all together and store in a airtight container or paper bag, this trail mix will keep fresh for about a week.
Happy Baking!
